6 reasons your HOME needs a MASSAGE!

We all know how we feel when we have a massage, we feel relaxed and centered, and energized. How do you think you would feel if your home could be the same way? When you walk through the door, instead of feeling a sense of dread or irritation, you could come home to a relaxed, centered, and energized environment. 6 reasons your HOME needs a MASSAGE!

Is you home in need of a good massage

Self care is a very important part of your life, and for me I have started having regular massages, and it has made the world of difference, I made a conscious decision to take the time for this small act of self kindness once a month. Wouldn’t it be nice if we could give that same self care to our homes.

When we live in a cluttered environment we tend to be tense and uptight, our houses feel overloaded, and the atmosphere is heavy. The opposite is true after you have purged, just like a massage, it relieves the tension, makes it easier to stretch out, and the space gives you energy to accomplish those everyday tasks.

We all have the capacity to buy “stuff” whether it is dollar store or high end, it is still “stuff” and unless it is used, loved, or it nourishes you, it is just “stuff”. This can weigh our houses down, just like tired muscles.

Maybe we should  look at our homes as a brick and mortar body, it has a heating system, it holds air just like your lungs, and it has different ways to eliminate the waste that is made. If we give our homes the self care of purging anything that is just clutter, we help it work more efficiently, helps with air quality, and the build up of garbage is kept to a minimum.

With self care given to our home, in return;

  • It is easier to clean
  • We can find things easily
  • Creates a feeling of a sanctuary
  • More efficient heating and cooling
  • Saves money, not buying things you already have, but can’t find
  • Spend more time together as a family or enjoy gathering with friends

Sometimes seeing something from a different perspective is helpful, we are able to see the bigger picture. Instead of just living in our homes, we can see how we live in them.

    • Thank you, Hilda, i was actually inspired to write the post while lying on my massage therapists table. I write the best posts when my brain is free to float.;) Thank you for your comment, have a great week.

  1. I love the correlation you’ve drawn about the importance of giving not just your body, but also your home a massage. What a great way of looking at this! How impressive too that you’ve committed personally to having a monthly massage. I love massages too, unfortunately, not on a monthly basis. The love how you’ve extended the idea of self-care to include our homes. Just beautiful and inspiring!

    • Thank you, Linda, as i have said in previous comments, i got the idea when lying on my massage therapist table, and letting my mind drift. I have the best ideas when i am not thinking of anything but relaxing. I always enjoy your comments, have a great week. 🙂

  2. The massage analogy is spot-on! It gives you both a visual and sensory connection. I know when I start to feel stressed and overwhelmed I automatically begin to declutter and organize. I always find when I purge things from my home it clears up things in my head!

    • Thank you, Sarah. You are right about clearing things in your head when your home is organized, i feel the same way. Thank you for your comment and have a great week.

  3. I think my home could use a massage! I realized recently that my time is split into “work time” and “personal time” with no time allocated for “home time” other than cooking, clean-up and laundry. There are always things that I could do to make things even better, such as cutting the tags off the dog bed – I wanted to wait and make sure she would use it first, so I could take it back if she didn’t. She doesn’t but the cat does, so there’s no excuse!

    • That’s funny Janet, our cat spends more time on the dog bed than he does, really because the dog is afraid of him and would rather sleep next to the bed than push him off. 😉 Thank you for your comment, have a great week, and enjoy all the snow!!
